From the New-York Gazette, October 29.
TO THE HONOUR OF THE REVEREND MR. GEORGE WHITEFIELD, one of
the most extraordinary men, that this or any other age has
produced,--a person of singular endowments, and the most
exalted piety, . . . [44 lines]
  When in his country's cause, the warriour bleeds,
  The greatful muse records his mighty deeds;
  Or when the patriot, yields his latest breath,
  The sorrowing crowds, in groans lament his death
  Shall then the gospel preacher, die unsung,
  To whom superior worth and praise belong?
